Autumn 1 update
As we approach the end of Autumn 1, we wanted to provide a
short update of what our staff, schools and partners have been
up to in this first half term of the 24/25 academic year.
We started the year by releasing our updated content which saw
our biggest change yet. For the first time, our curriculum is split
into 7 progressive year groups, having previously followed a 4
mini key stages approach. This was a massive project for the
team, writing over 400 new lesson plans while updating the
existing ones with new ideas. Although we encountered
problems, the update was live in full by the third week of the half
term, and we’re really proud of the curriculum we’ve provided
you this year. As always, we’d love feedback on the updated
curriculum, both positive & negative, so we can continue to
improve the PE provision we provide. With the updated system
we’ve created & launched over the summer, we are now able to
create new, edit existing, and make other changes to the
curriculum & lesson plans in the background, without disrupting
your week-to-week delivery. This new system will ensure the
updated content for the following academic year will be
released before the summer holidays.
As a final point on the update, remember the long-term &
medium-term plans within the documents tab will automatically
update to mirror your edited curriculum. This allows you to create
a bespoke plan for your staff based on your facilities, equipment
and teaching preferences.
Partnerships Focus
With a new academic year, comes new partnerships & projects
which allow us to further improve the opportunities we can offer
our schools. Our spotlight partner this half term is YorkMix Radio.
Based in North Yorkshire, YorkMix is York’s #1 multimedia news and entertainment platform online and on air. YorkMix radio launched in 2021 and has had more than 4 million streams to date.
Working together, we’ve launched ‘Playground Playoffs’, a project
where schools complete different exercises led by their own
sports leaders. Each school will accumulate points through the
exercises, with their final score posted on a leaderboard found on
the YorkMix website. After all 12 schools have entered their score,
the top 3 scores will compete in a live final, with a presenter reporting from each school as the schools compete to be crowed
Playground Playoffs Champions 2024/2025.
The 12 lucky schools randomly selected will see us visit children in
Selby and nearby villages, York, Malton & Ripon. You can follow
the playoffs through the PE PRO & YorkMix social media
platforms.
Teacher Spotlight
Each half term, the PE Pro team will choose a ‘Top Teacher’
who epitomises our values of PE in school. The spotlight will be on teachers that have shown enthusiasm during lessons, celebrate their children’s successes and have shown
willing to promote us on socials or through word of mouth. The winning teacher
will receive a small gift from us as recognition of their commitment to delivering
outstanding PE and helping children on their physical literacy journey!
This half term’s winner is Caroline Barker – Holy Name Primary
Congratulations!
